how is that a hobby?
Casual hello, act naturally.
So here is what I want you to do. Go to myspace or nexopia or whatever your fancy is and check out a random profile. If you actually clicked on a profile that is maintained continue, if not, try again til you have found a completed profile. Ok, now that you are there, scroll down until you get to the section about hobbies or interests. Nine times out of ten what are you going to see? Drinking. Seriously? Yeah, apparently, drinking is taking over from hockey and baseball as the national pastimes of our countries. This boggles my mind. People actually value getting drunk so much that they put it as a hobby. How bleak must life be for you when your idea of fun is abusing a substance to the point that you become something you aren't? Now I can't sit here and say that I didn't go through a partying phase where I drank a lot but I never got to the point where when people asked me what my interests are it became included. "Hey Pete, what do you do for fun?" "Oh you know, I like to play volleyball, baseball, basketball; I like to play guitar and occasionally write for fun. I enjoy drinking myself stupid because it is easier to have fun when I am incapable of rational thought! Oh, and I enjoy Hugh Jackman." Come on now.
Alright, now that I have that rant out of the way I have some very big and exciting news. What do the dates December 29, 2006 and August 18 2007 have in common? Well as of December 29th, Kirsten Zimmer has agreed to a lifetime contract with Peter Shepert and on August 18th the papers will be signed and we will be joined in holy matrimony! Yes mothers, it is safe for you daughters to come out again and fathers, your sons are safe because Peter and Kirsten are officially off the market. I couldn't be more excited! We already have the church, pastor, reception hall, and caterers booked and Kirsten has her dress. It's crazy how much we have done already. I am very thankful to God for providing all of this for us. It also looks like we will be able to get a very good photographer who is also a very good friend of mine for a low price. This is excellent because of the fact that we are already getting close to our budget because we want our wedding in Edmonton. Whatever works out for us though, I am so ridiculously excited to start the rest of my life with the love of my life.
Last thing before I go. I saw City and Colour (Dallas Green of Alexisonfire fame) at the Winspear on Saturday night. Best concert ever. That man is the single greatest acoustic performer in the history of the world. Argue with me. I dare you.
So long and goodnight!

PETER!!! OK, the most random thing EVER just happened. The other day (yesterday to be exact), my roommate Heidi came home with a funny story about a guy sitting right in front of her in class who was writing a blog about 9 out of 10 bloggers declaring drinking to be a hobby. And then I read your blog and thought "that's weird." So I got Heidi to look at it, and sure enough, you were the man sitting in front of her! So, you must sit in the same spot next week so you can meet her (she'll sit in the same spot too). And Rachel (my other roommate...you've met her) made the remark "I wonder who his friends are" in a sarcastic tone. Ha- you're my friend. What does this say about me? We're still splitting a gut over this. Weird, very weird.
And, I'm still very excited about you and Kirsten getting married soon!!!!!!!
Did you find Heidi today?
Too bad you're not in the same classes/seminar today...crazy that you're in 3 "classes" together! Hey- we're (as in my roommates and random friends) planning on going tobogganing at Connors Hill on Sat at 7:00 if you and anyone you invite want to come. Hot chocolate at my place afterwards.
this is so very exciting!! Wow.. Peter is getting married! I'm so extremely happy for you!! That's so awesome! ok, talk later. Have a good one
